THE QUARRATA/CALIFORNIA TENNIS ACADEMY (QCTA)

For the summer of 2009 the Tuscan Tennis Academy (in Quarrata, Tuscany, Italy), is excited to offer a new and dynamic tennis academy for juniors (ages 6-18) and adults (18 and over). The academy will be directed by Scott Murphy, one of America’s top teaching pros from California. Coach Murphy and his knowledgeable, professional and enthusiastic staff will offer eight weeks of camps with each week based on player’s levels of experience.

At the tennis academy there will be camps for beginning to intermediate juniors and adults and advanced juniors and adults (tournament level) but no matter what level of proficiency you bring to camp you will leave a vastly improved player. All of the programs at QCTA will include, to the extent that ability dictates, training within the physical, technical, tactical, strategic and mental components of the game. Whether you’re looking for a fun and exciting summer activity or interested in refining and enhancing your tennis game this academy has it all!

The camper to instructor ratio will never be more than 6:1 to ensure that every player gets exceptional instruction and attention. Our drills, workouts and live ball games are designed to keep everyone constantly engaged. Each session will have a maximum of 18 campers so be sure sign up early as camps can fill up rapidly.

Registration and evaluations will take place at Tuscan Tennis Academy on the Sunday before camp begins at 2:00pm (junior camps only). Registration for adults will be at 9:00am at the club on the first morning of camp.

Players will be evaluated at the time they register for camp and placed in groups commensurate with their ability level. However, groups can change on a daily basis as an incentive for the campers.

All campers will receive a QCTA t-shirt and a camp photo will be available for purchase.

All campers will be videotaped and given a video review. One of the rotations each week will involve a tour of Tennisplayer.net so players can compare themselves and what they’ve learned to the best players in the world.

At the end of each week there will be a Davis Cup competition where players will be chosen by staff members who will act as captains of their team. Singles and doubles play will determine the winning team which will receive a prize at graduation.

A graduation ceremony will take place at 3:00pm on the last day of camp (junior camps only). Parents are strongly urged to attend as special awards are presented along with camp certificates and the crowning of the Davis Cup Champs.

Off court activities will include the potential for golf and horseback riding. There will also be soccer, volleyball, basketball, movie watching and a party/dance the last night of camp.

*If a camper has been working with a coach at home we will build on that foundation rather than introduce major changes.*
